Mackay shines in Australian Veteran Golfers National Championships

The Australian Veteran Golfers National Golf Championships were recently held on the Gold Coast.

They took place from 15th to the 20thOctober with over 500 veteran golfers from all over Australia participating.

Twenty-one Veterans from Mackay participated in the Championships which were played at Palm Meadows, RACV Royal Pines and The Glades on the Gold Coast.

Mackay won the Club Championship from 21 Clubs who qualified. The top 5 stableford scores from each Club for each of the three rounds counted towards the championship. Mackay won with 523 stableford points from Riverside Club (Tas) with 493 points and Maroochy River (Qld) with 486 points.

We now have a national champion in our midst as Toni Woolcock won the Overall Stableford Championship with a score of 102 over the three days.

Jodi Manning was the Ladies C Grade Gross Winner with a score of 321.

Gary Browning was Runner Up in the Mens A Grade Stableford with a score 113 and Fluff Woolcock was the Winner of the Mens B Grade Stableford with a score of 110.

This was an excellent result for our local Veterans.

The 2018 National Championships will be held from 12 to 16 November 2018 in Port Stephens on the NSW Central Coast.
