QVGU Queensland Championships – 18th & 19th May 2020
The Queensland Veterans Closed Championships will be staged on Monday & Tuesday, 18th & 19th May 2020 at the Parkwood Golf Club on the Gold Coast.
The Parkwood Golf Club has recently undergone significant upgrades, and provides players with a pristine, par 71 Championship layout. The 18 hole, 6043 metre course is perfect for serious golfers, or for those looking for a social round with friends or family. Click Here… to go to the Club’s Web Site.
This preliminary introduction is forward notice of the event to inform Veteran golfers in the state.
Promotional flyers and the availability of entry forms will follow in late January.
“Our planning is to establish a limit of 224 players, ladies and men, and to conduct the tournament with am and pm shotgun starts on each day. Whilst we will conduct a random draw, we will be accepting, if requested, entries in pairs (not fours) to assist players travelling together to play together or, at least, at the same time of day. Entry fees will remain at $55 and a fleet of golf carts will be available for hire. An extensive prize list, which will include concurrent stableford events, is assured.
“We are mindful that vets from all areas of the state should be afforded the opportunity to compete, so the committee has resolved that Parkwood members be subject to entry quotas, pending the level of entries, which will close on Friday 24 April.
“Entries will be a matter for individuals, made directly to the Secretary of Parkwood Seniors and Veterans Golf Club – (refer nomination forms when published).
“Due to a change in handicap system effective 1st February with handicaps extended to 54 the QVGU State Championships Match Committee has decided to ballot excess nominations by handicap as is a usual method in major amateur events where fields are balloted handicaps.
“All Veteran Golfers from around Queensland are encouraged to participate.”
