Vets Golf Events Resume in January.
With the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions, the MGC has agreed to the resumption of Vets competitions on Mondays starting 11 January 2021, although the first event has been cancelled due to the weather.
From that date, Vets competitions will return to their normal shotgun starts at about 12 noon, with presentations in the clubhouse following the game. However, there are some rule changes that should be noted.

All players are required to comply with the Club’s policy implementing the government’s COVID-19 restrictions.
The MGC has published detailed instructions with which all players MUST comply, or be banned from the course. In particular, NO alcoholic beverages may be brought onto the course, but alcohol purchase and consumption on the course is now permitted. Social distancing must be maintained at all times. It is recommended that all prospective players read these policies and procedures in full before visiting the Club.
The Club is obligated to collect information for contact tracing purposes. This includes name, two of the following identifiers – address, email or mobile phone number and time period of patronage.
The Mackay Veterans Golf Committee asks all veteran golfers to seriously consider their health, the health of their families, and the health of the wider community, when going about their lives, including golf. Most veteran golfers are in the high to very high risk categories. If we contract the COVID-19 virus, minimal medical treatment is currently available for those who are badly affected. We urge all golfers to keep up to date with, and follow, the latest Government health warnings. We also have an obligation to be sensitive to, and acknowledge, the efforts and sacrifices that many in our wider communities are making. These efforts are aimed at minimising the spread of this virus, especially to people like us who are in the high risk category!
DO NOT BE COMPLACENT. STAY WELL! We want to see you all at our regular Monday competitions and other Vets events. Keep social distancing and wash hands regularly.
